
Catch Me Gets Its Cast

In May 2016 Willoughby Theatre Company presents the NSW Premiere of the smash-hit award winning Broadway musical Catch Me If You Can, based on the hit film, starring Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio. The show kicks off another ambitious season for the company which also includes a tribute to legendary composer George Gershwin at the Magic of the Musicals concert, followed by the Disney classic Mary Poppins. “Catch Me if You Can is a high-flying, all-singing, all-dancing musical comedy that has been a popular choice for our company and our patrons,” said Willoughby Theatre Company President Tom Sweeney. “The show has a spectacular original score by the team behind Hairspray and a well-known story that resonates with audiences of all ages. “We knew when the rights became available that it was the type of ambitious and fresh musical that deserved to be presented to Sydney audiences. We have no doubt audiences will embrace the show that was the recipient of awards and countless nominations when it was premiered on Broadway a few years back.” “We’ve also assembled a vibrant production team that includes the choreographic expertise of Janina Hamerlok, musical direction by Alex Ash and a fresh new face to the company in the form of Director Adam Haynes,” concluded Tom Sweeney. Many wonderful singers, actors and dancers auditioned for the show and the production team were thrilled to have had such a rich pool of talented people to choose from.
Stepping back into leading men roles at Willoughby for Catch Me If You Can are Shaun Young and Peter Meredith. Shaun and Peter played Elle Woods love interests Emmett and Warner in last Octobers Legally Blonde and will create the roles of Frank Jnr and Carl Hanratty in Catch Me If You Cans Sydney Premiere production.
They are joined by some of Sydney’s most experienced actors who return to the Concourse stage and some new but experiences faces joining Willoughby for the first time.
